COD4 SERVER: ONLINE
Friday, 11 July 2008
I'm sure the sentiment is shared among all AHz community admins & members when I say it brings us great pleasure to announce that one COD4 server has been restored.
The server can be reached at cod1.after-hourz.com.
We're still sorting for a more permanent home for Team Speak. Until we secure one, please use the temp TS at: ahz.instantts.com:8080
We want to thank everyone who posted their ideas, wishes, and offers of help in the forums. A huge thanks to Desert Eagle for allowing this community to utilize his server.
It's been a while since I've made a post here. I got to say I feel a bit tingly.
I'm sure a lot of us remember plenty of good times during a variety of games...or even just roasting each other on Teamspeak.
I'm also sure most of you have noticed that the technical issue with our core teamspeak server has reached critical mass. As I understand it, the database went kaput and then our hosting company bottomed out.
As I know it's been down for sometime - I've taken the liberty of setting up a small TS server as a temp solution. Access at the below address, anonymously.
*When you log in the first time remember to select Anonymous to allow you to go in unregistered and not get a username/password error.
Unfortunately, other community updates / hosting issues with the game servers, etc..fell victim to real products of everyone's busy lives. I'm also sure most of you know that operating a gaming community can be financially taxing and time consuming.
I want to assure all of you that the admin team is working on moving AHz in good directions and we'd like your support and feedback. This community is still great; what makes it great are the people that belong in it. I don't see that as gone yet. I see a small stasis that is easily broken if we all work together .
We've added an ad block to the home page in order to build financial support for AHz related endeavors. I expect us to be in a position to host a particular game sometime in the near future. We'll want your suggestions there, so please keep on an eye out for that announcement.
I ask all of you to have patience. I want you to know that you have a voice as we work through some new challenges in order to bring the best AHz experience forward.
Please opine in this thread to discuss / offer your suggestions.
Together I know we can do great things here at After-Hourz.
BACK TO THE BASICS
Friday, 25 April 2008
As of today we're going back to the basics that started After-Hourz. One game, one server, no bullshit.
We have a new COD4 server out of NY/NJ at 184.108.40.206:28960. At the moment it's just running the stock configuration but we are in the process of configuring it for AWE4 and custom map play. This server is in a different hosting environment from the old servers, so maybe once and for all the lag and CI problems we've been experiencing with COD4 will be a thing of the past.
All other games that we've been supporting will be turned off in the immediate future. The majority of active members that frequent the forums and TS and play together have centered around COD4 so that's where we are going to focus our game server support. That is not to say you can't get on TS and look to raid other servers for a different game but COD4 will be the primary focus.
As part of the restructuring we have some admins stepping away from active admin duties and new admins joining the team. IB, Seeker, and Ponch are stepping as active admins and JAKL has returned to active admin status. They will retain their admin status but they will not be involved in the day-to-day administration of the website, forums, and servers. We thank them for their years of support as they've been an integral part of the community for years.
At this time we're happy to announce that UncleBone and Evis have been added to the Server Administration group. We may be looking to add other admins both in the Game Server as well as Server admin capacity soon. We're looking for people who are willing to step up both financially as well as through their time in building After-Hourz back up. This means being active on the boards as well as willing to chip in and help out with the servers. Mafia Capo has been a great addition to the Game Admin group and we're looking for others to step up like he has.
COD4 is the game we're going to support going forward and we'll see where things take us depending on what games come out and what you guys want to play together. We're still an FPS-centered gaming site so feel free to discuss any games you want in the forums so we can always be on the lookout for what's next. The RO Meatgrinder will stay up as we just manage that for TWI but from an After-Hourz perspective, we're focusing on COD4.
So with that being said, it's a new day at After-Hourz. We welcome a new admin and bring back a really old one. Now post on the forums and play on the servers bitches.
Gaming Admins for CoD 4
Wednesday, 09 January 2008
AHGN would like to introduce Sharpe and UB to the all new Gaming Admin position. This position will be responsible for all monitoring and advancement of COD4 at After-Hourz. They are well qualified for this position and we think all of After-Hourz will benefit from their involvement.
Congradulations and Welcome Private Sharpe and Unclebone to the Gaming Administration.
