As Unclebones told me MP_Dam was released on the After-Hourz server last night. I'm glad you people
like the map. Infortunatly you must get used to the fact that MP_Balakan and MP_Dam will be the only maps
from my hand for COD 4.

The number of custom maps servers is a joke and so is the support the developers of that game provide to the modding community. As an example they took down the old website with all the info and started a new without it. I did not even register on that new site and not planning to do so. They can keep the nonsense.
I don't see a change in the near future so I have time to hunt down pretty woman and work on the fields.

I need to thank a few people. Unclebones for his advice and great help on the elevator. Zeroy for his tutorials.
And Drecks for hammering my head not to come up with another Arab town which looks like

Excellent map sir!

I also totally agree with your comments about IW.

It will be sad if you don't map again. We need "real" good maps
and those are very rare with CoD4.
Again congratulations, this map is awesome by the quality of the mapping, layout and details.

Great map guys we have it running on our high traffic server

The only thing maybe is a lack of cover around spawn but another good quality map by you guys.
The only question I want to ask is where the hell is Red Oktober for COD 4?

КРАСНЫЙ ОКТЯБРЬ is a World War 2 scenery. I don't want it to be spoiled with UAV. Nadefarting perks
and Hollywood style Last stand kiddos. I have all the mapfiles in my vault here.

MP Dam seems like a nice map. Its nice for Ernesto that people like it.

Slyk retired from COD mapping so you won't see TA or GA in any future COD game. That is unless hell freezes over (IMG:../forum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) But After-Hourz will continue to release maps as long as our members like to play those games. If not we've proven to be pretty good at releasing maps for other games too.

If you came here looking for the continuation of the RGN/After-Hourz feud, it's been split off into its own topic here.

As for your map Ernesto, great job and a lot of fun to play on. The brutality of the top of the dam is so much fun as are fighting it out in the tunnels. There are little things you could do here and there to polish it off but I can't blame you if the motivation is no longer there. One thing I wanted to say was that I love the loading screen. It really gives a good representation of the scale of the map.

BTW, even though this is on RGN, it is still a very good topic with lots of feedback on your map, Ernesto. Everyone seems to be enjoying it and there isn't a negative/derogatory statement in the bunch.

Mario and all others thanks for the kind words. For a beta release I'm satisfied with the map so far.
You can't deliver the perfect finished map in a beta release so its good to have this feedback. I was aware of some of the problems. The upper dam water need to be stretched and there is a piece of hurt trigger which has to be moved. I did read some about the cover on top of the dam. The map was designed with objective gametypes in mind. S&D, SAB, DOM and HQ. With the position of the objectives and spawns in S&D the attacking team has time enough to reach the cover and plan their attack. Same story for DOM. Maybe TDM could give problems with cover but I did not want to fill up the Dam with vehicles, barriers, and other types of cover. I wanted to make it look like a real dam with a road under construction on top of it.

For this map I took the Hooverdam for inspiration and for the minimap I used the google map picture of the Hooverdam terrain. Its a rocky desolate area and it gave me an excuse not to spread to much grass and foliage which was good for performance.

I was told the elevatordoors give problems. When it starts and people are in between the doors it might give problems. This same problem happens when you try to stand between a real elevatordoor. I don't see it as a real problem. I need to fix my map for a final release. Its obvious I don't like close combat I like long views but did not forgot to add close combat areas into this map. I hope to recieve more comments and will wait for another week to stat to change the map.
