MOH: Airborne Upcoming Multiplayer Summit - July 18-20
Tuesday, 10 July 2007

Image

The moment is finally here. On July 18th, Innocent Bystander and I (PK*) will be attending the Medal of Honor Airborne Multiplayer Summit in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  Why Fort Bragg and not LA you ask?  The answer is quite simple, the 82nd Airborne!  It appears that EA Games may have just outdone my first trip for Airborne back in Fall '06 when I had a chance to fire authentic WWII weapons.  This time around, we're jumping from a 34 foot training tower (see image below) and touring the 82nd Airborne Division War Memorial Museum.

Overhead of MP Event Drop Zone

IB and I will have a chance to play all the attendees including the 82nd Airborne on Thursday and again on Friday morning.  EA's developers will obviously be attending the event which will give us a great opportunity to discuss the MP portion of the upcoming release.  We've been waiting on MP information for some time now, and while we feel we have every angle covered to report we want everyone to get involved.  This includes heading down to the thread linked below and posting any questions or concerns you wish to have answered at the summit.

Battlefield 2: Forgotten Hope 2 Update
Wednesday, 20 June 2007

A new update has been posted on the Forgotten Hope 2 website.

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope 2. After two weeks without news it is time to show you a little more of the mod's progress.

The Flugabwehr-Kanone 18, probably the most well known artillery piece of the war, is technically an anti aircraft artillery gun, but that is an oversimplification. Like its opponents, the Wehrmacht of 1939 had underestimated the need for powerful anti-tank guns and equipped its anti-tank units with weapons that proved too small for their job. Unlike other armed forces, it had a ready substitute for the underpowered AT guns already in place -- the notorious '88'.

Although designed for an anti-air role, and deployed in large numbers by the Wehrmacht, which emphasized the tactical use of air power in its doctrines, its high velocity projectiles were also deadly to enemy armor. While the armies of other nations struggled to play catch-up, Germany had an effective anti-tank weapon avaialble in abundance from the start of the conflict. Also useful as direct support artillery it was a flexible and justly feared weapon that deserves much of the credit for creating the legend of German armored prowess. Arisaka created the model and the paintjob is by Jimbob.

Presented for the first time in our last update we lost little time bringing the Universal Carrier into the game. It is ready for action as you can see on the following screens shot by German intelligence. Built in huge numbers, the Universal Carrier was used for a multitude of roles. Several Bren Carriers were captured by the Wehrmacht (many after Dunkirk) the war and refitted with German markings and weapons. The Universal Carrier was modeled by OMNI and Toddel, got its wheels from Rad and was coded into game by ctz.

Ranked vs. Unranked Airborne Servers
Monday, 11 June 2007

Planet Medal of Honor has recently published a new poll on their main page that needs to be discussed here at AHGN.  It seems EA is contemplating including a ranking feature in Airborne following in the footsteps of Battlefield 2.  While ranked servers sounds good in theory, it is only beneficial to those that rent servers from major gameserver providers.  AHGN hosts it's own hardware and unfortunately we do not have the option for running ranked servers.  There are many variables that can change the outlook from our admins and community members alike, so if there were ever a good time to discuss ranked vs. unranked, now is the time to do so as EA is listening.

Speak now or forever hold your peace.  Please cast your vote on PMOH's site then head over to our forums for discussion.
