While we’ve had it for some time now, a good number of our members are unaware of our Facebook group page. Our community has evolved from the days of the forums to the age of social networking. The forums are still here, but of late we’ve been receiving more posts on the FB group page than the forums.

Red Orchestra 2: Game of the Year Edition Release

Tomorrow, 5/24/12 at 1pm EST Tripwire will be releasing the Game of the Year Edition of RO2. All current owners will receive a large content update featuring new maps, content, and game modes. Most importantly there will be a number of bug fixes which promise to fix most of the problems that have plagued RO2 from it’s release (see below for more details). I’m excited to see that Tripwire has admitted to making mistakes and has pledged to fix them! Please check out there official posting on the Tripwire forums here.

In addition to the release Tripwire has announce a free weekend pass, starting Thursday 5/14/12 @ 1pm EST and going through Sunday 5/27/12. So grab a buddy who doesn’t have the game yet and drag his ass in here! After-Hourz will have a server up and running!

The content pack additions include:

“Action” mode – Featuring a crosshair, easier aiming and toned down recoil, reduced damage and open access to a wide range of weaponry Action mode is the perfect first step for players into the world of Red Orchestra.
“Classic” mode blends the gameplay innovations of the new game with the tactical and edgy gameplay of the original giving the fans of the first game exactly what they want.
Mamayev Kurgan – complete new map, featuring both close-quarters battles in trenches and bunkers, as well as longer ranged combat across the famous hill in Stalingrad
Refined and improved gameplay across the board, vehicle improvements, and way better performance and polish. We listened to the community and based on their feedback refined and tweaked almost every major feature in the game!

Sony PSN now up! Or is it?

As many of you are well aware Sony’s PlayStation Network (PSN) has been down for nearly a month. Just as Sony has finally started to bring it’s service back online they abruptly shut it down today. No, the service has not been hacked again. This time it was a glaring oversight that has forced Sony to take the network offline. The issue? If you forget you PSN login all they required was your email address and date of birth to reset your password. If you were a PSN member before the site was hacked, that information would be readily available for the hackers to steal your account back. In addition Sony has admitted to repairing a URL exploit and has stated that “no hack was involved.” Once again proving that Sony doesn’t seem to understand security at all. After all of this, would you trust Sony with your personal information?

Lionhead: Pre-owned worse than PC piracy

Fable III developer Lionhead has told Eurogamer that second-hand (pre-owned) sales on Xbox 360 are today a bigger problem than piracy on PC.
Fortunately, Lionhead has already managed to cover development costs with first-hand Xbox 360 sales, which are “in their millions”.Nevertheless,
piracy will still affect Fable III on PC, and there’s “not much you can do about it”.
“Piracy these days on PC is probably less problematic than second-hand sales on the Xbox,” declared lead Fable III combat designer Mike West.

I don’t know how reputable a source this is, but they’re claiming RO2 will be released in the UK in August. I’ll let you folks draw your own conclusions as to what that means for the release here in the states.
